The official website for Urban Labs Indonesia is now live — a platform under the Urban Labs initiative to share work, ideas, and updates on data-driven urban policy and innovation.

Urban Labs Included in Urban Team 2025 Annual Workplan
During the monthly planning meeting, the Urban Team officially included the Urban Labs initiative in its 2025 annual workplan. Key planned activities include: finalization of the Sustainable Cities Indicator (IKB), 4–6 Rapid Planning Studios, stakeholder activation and engagement, and strengthened urban data management.
Institutionalizing Urban Labs as Innovative Governance for Sustainable Urban Transformation.
As part of Luthfi’s final presentation for re-entry at the Human Resources Bureau, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, the Urban Labs concept was formally presented. The Head of the Human Resources Bureau and the Director for Local Development expressed full support for the initiative, emphasizing that it should not remain just a concept paper but be implemented in practice.

Urban Labs Indonesia was proposed as a platform to help the Urban Team stay responsive to emerging urban issues. The Deputy Director for Urban Affairs highlighted that a dedicated Urban Lab would help the Urban Team stay ahead of emerging issues that often get overlooked amid day-to-day responsibilities. “We hope to produce outputs every quarter that we can discuss together as tactical and strategic steps,”. The Director for Local Development stressed the need for practical tools, such as geospatial data analysis systems for metropolitan areas. “We shouldn’t just produce policy documents — we need tools that enable real-time insight and decision-making,”
